"Where responsible pet ownership begins"

Please call (712)279-6170 for service.

Welcome!  The chances are, if you are looking at this web site, you have either lost your beloved pet, or you are maybe looking to adopt a new member into your family.  We hope that our web site can help you in your quest!

Our Mission:  To educate the citizens of Sioux City about animal control and animal welfare; to protect human and animal health and safety; to increase responsible pet ownership, reduce the numbers of unwanted pets, and to work towards the reduced need for our services.

Unfortunately each year, hundreds of animals are euthanized by our facility because of the "irresponsible pet owner".  We speak up for the animals who are unable to speak for themselves, we regularly instigate legal action against the perpetrators of animal cruelty - and try to find the "victims" new loving homes.  We have the job of cleaning up where society has failed. Our shelter is not capable of holding all of the animals we impound and holding them indefinitely.  We hope that this web site will help in the placement of some of these animals.

*Babies!*

This is the time of year where we will see lots of babies!!

If you see a baby of any kind, Please, Please leave it alone!!

It is extremely important that you leave them alone as the mother is inevitably close by and will reject the baby if it is carrying human scent.

If the mother is obviously deceased (Hit by a car for example), then please don't hesitate to call us at 279-6170, and we will arrange for an officer to collect the orphan.

*Please don't forget to stop by our Read Me page.  It explains how much more we are than "dog catchers".*

*Popcorn Park Zoo*

We handle domestic animal abuse, neglect and abandonment, we also deal with wildlife, horses, pigs, ducks, reptiles and any other animal residing within the city limits.  We have even had a bear and cougar, which we placed at Popcorn Park Zoo, Forked River, New Jersey.

We were recently contacted by John Bergman and we discovered that sadly, Cindy Lou - The cougar that we sent to him some 18 years ago had died.

It was our honor to be involved at the beginning of the "story" and to arrange for Cindy Lou to be flown from Sioux City to Popcorn Park In New Jersey, where she led a wonderful life.

- Thanks For Everything John!

The cougar, "Cindy Lou"  was about 19 and "Boo Boo" the bear is 13.We would really like to thank John Bergman and his colleagues for doing a wonderful job in looking after the animals that they have there. Please be sure to check out their website by clicking here.
