What are the adoption fees?
The adoption fees vary. It is $65 for dogs and $50 for cats, this includes their first shots and de-worming. >>For a limited time the adoption fees for cats and kittens has been lowered to only $10! Take advantage while it lasts!!<<
Does an animal I adopt from you have to be spayed or neutered after I obtain ownership?
Yes. According to State Law, these animals need to be spayed or neutered as required. It will be your responsibility to arrange this if needed.
What is the 7 day hold?
We hold a stray cat or dog for a period of 7 days to allow the owner sufficient time to retrieve their pet. Any animals which are not reclaimed within this period are then put into the adoption program.
I have heard that it will soon be law to have my dog micro-chipped. Is this correct?
Pit Bulls are now required to be micro-chipped in Sioux City. At the moment, there is no law stating that you must get other breeds chipped, although this is something that may be brought into law eventually.
Is it really worth getting a dog tag displaying my telephone number?
ABSOLUTELY!! If we had a method of contacting the owner when we found their dog, can you imagine how many dogs could be reunited with their families? At the moment, the only way that we have of contacting the owner is if the dog is wearing a rabies tag or city license tag. If they are not wearing either of those tags, and we do not know the dog and where it lives, we can only wait for the owner to call us. You can get tags made up for just a few dollars($3-7 from Wal-Mart or PetsMart, etc.) and it could work out to be priceless to you.
